Build

The construction process and the services we have to offer.

Step 1 (Excavation and base prep)

Although this may be the least exciting part for the customer, this is the most important part of your project when it comes to the longevity and durability of your space. This step is not a one size fits all as many contractors treat it. We set our excavation and base depths based on many factors such as soil types and uses of the space. Native soils affect the strength and drainage which may require more or less base material than another site. We also use large compaction equipment allowing us to compact our base properly at quicker rates and with a compaction computer built in our machines, we know when your base material is fully compacted, eliminating the chances of future settlement.

Step 2 (Pool coping and vertical elements

Once our excavation and base prep is done we get to start putting down some materials and your space starts to come together. Before getting to laying pavers we build most of our vertical elements. Elements such as stairs, fire features, walls, kitchens etc. If your project includes a pool, this is where we will install your pool coping to set us up for pavers. On most jobs this is the most time consuming part.

step 3 (pavers)

Most of your elements are mostly built and now it is time for us to lay the pavers. After screeding our setting bed your selected natural stone or concrete paving stones start to get laid. Once the “main body” is laid in, we will start to lay out the shape of the space and make our cuts. After cutting, we will wash off the space and finish up the paver installation, usually with some sort of accent border. Once all of the pavers are down we install our aluminum edge restraint. This edge restraint helps prevent our pavers from shifting towards the edges of the space.

step 4 (Landscaping, lighting and sound)

The hardscape is completed and you can see most of the space. At this point we will lay out our plantings, accent and path lights and sound system speakers. Once our locations are set, everything is set into the ground. Plants are fertilized and speakers and lights are tested and plumbed.

Step 5 (Paver compaction and joint sand)

You can finally see your whole project. Its a little messy on the edges but it’s all there. Now that we are done making a mess we will clean off your newly installed hardscapes as needed and get ready to wrap up the space. Once things are cleaned we will run our special roller compactor over the paver areas to smooth things out. Once the paving stones are compacted to perfection we will install and set your selected joint sand to complete the space.

step 6 (final clean up and inspecton)

The space is finally completed but your yard is a little messy from construction. At this point we will scrape out any damaged lawn and soil and bring in new fresh loam to spread. Most customers choose to have us install high quality seed and weed preventative starter fertilizer but some opt for us to repair their lawn areas with sod. Once we are fully cleaned up we will remove any materials or pieces of equipment that have been on site. Upon completion we will walk through the completed site making sure that everything is cleaned and elements are operating properly so that you and your family are able to happily enjoy your new space!
